Attacking Anxiety Series
Pastor Jason Rollin and his wife Nicole planted City Light Church in 2015 in Rochester Hills, Michigan and have seen over 1,000 people make a commitment to Jesus Christ since then! They are currently a portable church that meets inside of Oakland Christian School as they pray for their permanent home.
The Story
In our initial conversations with Jason, we found that in the past 9 years, they had been using various graphics subscriptions to cut and piece together all of their graphics and video for the church. The responsibility ultimately, still was on his shoulders as lead pastor and it was really weighing him down. Our mission as an agency is to relieve this type of weight from pastors and staff allowing them to be free in their specific callings to do what they do best. Not only that, but we aim to maximize their reach and impact of their messaging by creating custom graphics and video that not only clearly communicate the series, but are primed to skyrocket engagement, retention, and application in the lives of their community. So as a solution to the current obstacles at City Light, they became partners with us to carry that weight and steward it as it should be.
Our Process
This series was their very first request. The color palette was strategically chosen to be very clear cut in black and white with a heavy wash of red which communicates stress, fear, and tension. The style we chose was intentional typography that would integrate the target symbol into the X in the word anxiety which would communicate to the viewer that anxiety is scary, but it is conquerable. We used the weekly titles Jason had provided of his messages throughout all of the designed elements and the video which you’ll see below.
Our pitch for the video style was to go with something very 007 / Dr. No which Jason quickly approved. We were really thrilled with how this project turned out, but even more so we were just absolutely stoked to have lifted this burden from the church staff enabling them to do the work in the community and have something they would be extremely confident in for their next series!
